In-Church Donation Drop off and Care Opportunities
Donation & Care
These involve collecting and preparing items
for donation, allowing parishioners to contribute goods for various causes.
Christmas Toy Drive
At Christmastime, we collect unwrapped toys for children of all ages, to be distributed through Christmas Cheer.
Feeding Ministry
Bring canned and boxed foods to church to be taken to local food banks for distribution.
Card Ministry
Led by Michael Freeman. He sends cards or email greetings for various occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebratory events.
Aims to spread God’s joy through thoughtful communication.
Children's Welcome Bags
A ministry of Wendy Vane. The Sunday greeters provide bags of age-appropriate items to children to help them experience God’s love in a tangible way.
Children under 2 years of age are provided stuffed animals, and those between the ages of 3 and 10 receive crayons, religious-themed coloring books, and puzzles.
Welcome Bags for Adult Visitors
A ministry of Lorraine Tiffany-Malone-assembles welcome bags for adults who visit St. John.
Each bag includes information on St. John, the wider Episcopal Church, and an edible treat. Also included is a 25-cent coin honoring Pauli Murray, the first African American woman priest in the Episcopal Church of America.
Blessing Bags
Inspired by Jesus’ words: “If ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Members periodically fill zip-lock bags with personal care items.
Parishioners keep these in their cars for on-the-spot distribution to those in need.
Personal Care Items Collection
Bring personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.) to church. They are collected for the Hope Lutheran van serving the South Lake Tahoe community.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Members knit and crochet shawls and blankets.
These are shared with parishioners and their families and friends during difficult times.
“Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them”
– Book of Common Prayer
